] BIG LOTTERY FUND YOUNG NE 16 May 2006 LOTTERY GIVES NORTH EAST YOUNG CHANCE TO FIND THEIR FEET

'Finding your feet in your street' is a new and exciting approach to rural youth work that will encourage young people in West Durham to roll up their sleeves and get involved in regenerating their communities. This initiative is one of three in the North East to get cash backing from the Big Lottery Fund totalling GBP385,381.

The funding package announced today comes from the Young People's Fund programme, which will fund projects that work with young people on creating activities that give them a focus, somewhere to go and something positive and challenging to do.

Green fingered youngsters will be looking forward to getting their hands dirty, thanks to a GBP120,000 grant which will give them the opportunity to become active members of their community through a hands on approach to environmental work.
