Missouri is joining the growing number of states that post online the names of attorneys subjected to discipline.
The state Supreme Court decided in April to post the names of those attorneys it disbars, suspends or reprimands. Although the Office of Chief Disciplinary Counsel recommends discipline, the court is the body that imposes it.
"I think it's great," said Maridee Edwards, chief disciplinary counsel. "It gives the public some information that they can evaluate to know that maybe they should take a look at the lawyer they're getting involved with, if they have a disciplinary history."
