(From Nottingham Evening Post)
Carter & Carter, the Notts-based training business, is on the acquisition trail again. The stock exchange quoted company, which counts EMTEC among its divisions, says it is likely to make another acquisition "within the next calendar year".
The company, which moved its headquarters from Peterborough to Ruddington Fields Business Park earlier this year, has made two sizeable acquisitions since September.
It spent more than GBP24m buying vocational training business Assa in September last year and GBP13.6m acquiring Fern Group - which trains the unemployed and the disabled - in February.
But chief executive Phillip Carter told Business Post that other "logical" acquisitions were likely as the company seeks to build its presence in a fragmented training market.
He said: "What we are seeing is a scenario where the Government wants to partner with fewer, better quality providers in the training market.
"The top four to five providers account for ten to 11% of the market. We are a market leader, accounting for four per cent and we are one of the best equipped.
