SYDNEY, May 3 Asia Pulse - The Australian stock market was trading higher at noon, having recovering from a slow start after the decision by the central bank to lift interest rates.

At 1200 AEST, the benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index was up 3.2 points to 5276.3, while the all ordinaries was up 6.3 points to 5228.7.

On the Sydney Futures Exchange, the June share price index contract was up one point to 5272.

The market began in negative territory today shortly after the Reserve Bank of Australia lifted the official cash rate by 25 basis points to 5.75 per cent, the first time it has raised interest rates since March 2005.
