TAIPEI, May 3 Asia Pulse - Taiwan's venture capital market saw new investment amounting to NT$26.6 billion (US$837 million) in 2005, up 74.2 per cent over the previous year, according to tallies released Tuesday by the Council for Economic Planning and Development (CEPD).
CEPD officials said the investment value in the global venture capital market declined from more than US$100 billion in 2001 to around US$30 billion in 2004 owing to a downturn in the U.S. technology industry.
While this unfavorable global climate has also upset Taiwan's venture capital industry, the domestic industry has since revitalized due to the government's continual efforts to improve the investment environment, the officials said.
