Electronic money transfer (EMT) transactions via online, mobile or telephone banking channels or via ATMs accounted for 76.6 percent of the 1.25 billion money transfers in South Korea in the fourth quarter of 2005, according to statistics released by the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS), a financial regulator.

EMT transactions accounted for 20 percent of the value of money transfers during the quarter, which totalled KRW8,754 trillion ($9.12 trillion). The proportion of money transfers settled via EMT channels rose from 71.5 percent of the number and 15.7 percent of the value of money transfers in the fourth quarter …
