Products: 710,000 rechargeable lithium-ion batteries model EN-EL3 sold since 5/04. Nikon has received four reports of batteries overheating, none resulting in injury. Of all the batteries involved, around 200,000 were sold in the U.S. at camera, mass-merchandise, and office-supply stores; online; and by catalog. The batteries came with Nikon's D100, D70, and D50 digital SLRs, and were sold separately as model number 26265 for about $50. Not all battery packs pose a hazard. The recall encompasses only certain lot numbers and excludes those marked "Made in Japan." To determine whether you own a recalled battery, look for model number EN-EL3, and check to see if any of the following lot numbers appear in black ink in the recessed area on the side (you may have to tilt the battery pack to see the lot number): 44AC, 46AC, 46AD, 46AE, 46AF, ...
