The Board of Trustees at Southern Illinois University recently approved an agreement with the U.S. Justice Department that makes all students eligible for three fellowship programs previously reserved for women and minorities.
The agreement comes after two months of negotiation with the Justice Department, which alleged that the criteria for the fellowships violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits discrimination in employment.
