Media attention on GLBT issues usually centers around dramatic, appalling incidents, such as the Matthew Shepard murder, and coverage tends to focus on "two bad seeds" and what went wrong.
While these extremely visible, highly publicized incidents do bring attention to GLBT issues, focusing attention on these "bad seeds" does nothing to address the smaller-scale biased behavior and unfair treatment that occur far more frequently.
