Children who witness violence in their homes experience a variety of behavioral problems, confirms a new study. In fact, of all of the data collected by the researchers, very few failed to show a significant difference between children who came from violent homes and a norm group. The researchers visited 22 11- to 14-year-old boys and girls living at a battered women's shelter. They assessed each child's behavior with three different forms of the Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL): One for mothers, one for shelter staff, and a self-report questionnaire for the children themselves.
