PALM BEACH, Fla., April 26 (UPI) -- Researchers say their unique product will help scientists determine if clinical-trial participants are correctly using an investigational topical gel containing microbicides -- substances that will prevent sexual transmission of the virus that causes AIDS.
"One of the problems in conducting any clinical trial," explained Sumentheran Govender, director of clinical trials for the New York-based Population Council, "is determining if the person was adherent in taking medication or using devices."
