Danyelle Kinser, a first-grade student at Lashmeet-Matoaka School in Mercer County, West Virginia, was riding with her grandmother to her school bus stop on the morning of March 3. Suddenly, her grandmother, Mildred Vickers, lost control of her Chevy Blazer, and the vehicle skidded off the mountain road and rolled over seven or eight times, tumbling down a hill before coming to rest on an old strip-mine site.
"Her granddaughter was showing Mrs. Vickers some things from school when the vehicle ran off the road," Corporal Stan Cary of the Mercer County Sheriff's Department told the Bluefield Daily Telegraph. "Mrs. Vickers couldn't get out of the vehicle, but her granddaughter could."
