On January 10, a man tried to rob Nasr Brothers Jewelry in Garland, Texas, but some not-so-straight shooting sent him on his way.

At about 10:20 a.m., the store manager, Claude Rizk, approached a man who was standing at a display when the man pulled a gun and told him not to move. Rizk raised his hands and repeatedly said, "Don't shoot," reported the Dallas Morning News.

Unbeknownst to the robber, storeowner John Nasr was watching the scenario unfold through a backroom window. Nasr "thought he and Mr. Rizk could have been killed, and his reaction was to protect his friend. 'He means more to me than any piece of jewelry,' he said." ...
