Pro-life license plates could cause "road rage"?(INSIDER REPORT)(Brief article)
Environmental activists in New York state have many options for expressing their beliefs on their license plates. The New York DMV accommodates them and other special interests with custom plates declaring "Conserve Open Space," "Conserve Habitat." "New York Recycles," etc.
But New York doesn't believe in free speech for all. It is attempting to stifle a lawsuit that seeks to make "Choose Life" license plates available. New York Assistant Solicitor General Jennifer Grace Miller told the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals that the statement "Choose Life" could lead to road rage. Judge Dennis Jacobs agreed, suggesting that allowing the phrase could open the door to messages from extremist groups.
