About three dozen protesters used the last home game for the Penn State women's basketball team to embarrass coach Rene Portland, who is accused of driving a star player off the team by charging that she is a lesbian.

They had tickets to the game against Ohio State, and quietly laid a rainbow banner across three rows of empty seats, then waved a huge banner at halftime. Other fans responded with a banner proclaiming "We Believe Rene."
