More British students are cheating and using technology--particularly mobile phones--to do it.
Great Britain's education watchdog group, the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority, said it has noted a 27 percent rise in cheating at United Kingdom schools between 2004 and 2005.
QCA found that a great deal of plagiarism is arising from the Internet. The group, which is designed to help ensure schools perform well, said 4,500 students were punished for "malpractice" in 2005. About one-third of the cases involved plagiarism and another one-third involved using mobile phones or other electronic devices in exam rooms.
