Ed tech advocates are taking their fight for federal dollars to Capitol Hill and trying to rally support to save the education technology block grant from elimination.
Several groups are calling for Congress to pass a budget resolution amendment that would erase education cuts implemented last year, and restore education funding to the FY05 level. That would give the ed tech block grant $496 million.
"We are encouraged by the recent movement within the Senate to restore funding to FY05 budget levels," said Don Knezek, CEO of the International Society for Technology in Education. "We hope this amendment will translate into greater federal funding for educational technology, a key component to keep America competitive. This is an excellent first step in a long march towards full funding for Enhancing Education Through Technology."
