I picked up issue #106 as an enjoyable diversion during the holidays ... I like reading about audio, but have recently grown weary of the typical rags' repeated use of the same adjectives to describe gear I can't afford (palpable, airy, liquid, etc.).
It caught my eye because you actually feature a review of a receiver I own (well, almost ... I have the Onkyo TX-SR500, 2 years older than the 502 in issue #106). I started skimming it in the store and ... hey! This is no ordinary review! He actually opened the thing up and is telling me real facts about the amplifier's design. I bought it on the spot.
Loved David A. Rich's article on speaker testing. And his speaker reviews. And both of his receiver reviews. Which brings me to my first question: are you working this guy too hard? Seems like he wrote half your doggone magazine! You mentioned in your little intro piece that this is something of a "spec heavy" issue and has taken a lot of work to put together. I have no problem with you working hard, but don't burn the guy out.
