It's difficult to find supplementary material that truly supplements musical concepts taught in a method book series; however, 30 Easy Piano Studies in Classical, Jazz and Popular Styles is a refreshing change. Looking at the table of contents alone, it is clear composer/author Mike Cornick values a structured approach to concept teaching. The table of contents includes not only title and page, but is organized by key signature and rhythm structure. Pieces are also categorized for teaching purposes: "Scales and Keys," "Legato and Staccato" and "Exploring Style." Creating this pedagogy trail is a thoughtful new addition to supplementary texts.
