The CHIEFS added some much-needed depth at defensive tackle by signing free agent Ron Edwards (Bills) and re-signing Lional Dalton. Edwards is a big (6-3, 320), powerful player who is effective against the run and provides an inside pass rush. Another pickup, Lenny Walls (Broncos) is the top candidate for the starting right cornerback job.... ILB Donnie Edwards, who led the CHARGERS in tackles the past four seasons, needs to create more turnovers. In 2004, he had five interceptions and always seemed to be in the right place at the right time, but he had only two picks last season.... The TITANS expect WR Bobby Wade to challenge for more playing time in 2006. He has good speed and excels at finding gaps in the defense. Wade also could be a factor in the return game.... The STEELERS want to give ILB Rian Wallace, a fifth-round pick in 2005, more playing time this season, but it might not be in the middle. He has enough speed and quickness to be used as an outside pass rusher, and the team likes the way he gets to the ball.... BRONCOS coach Mike Shanahan says RT George Foster has the ability and experience to become a Pro Bowl-caliber player. Foster (6-5, 338), a 2003 first-round pick, is bigger than most of the team's linemen, but he has. good quickness and excels at cutting off backside pursuit in the team's zone-blocking scheme.... COLTS TE Bryan Fletcher is a perfect fit in coordinator Tom Moore's offense, and he continues to improve as he gets more playing time. He has the speed to be a downfield threat, the hands to make tough catches and the size (6-5, 230) to create mismatches against defensive backs.... Recently signed BROWNS LT Kevin Shaffer (Falcons) had a tough time on the free-agent market because there were questions about his pass-blocking ability, but his mean streak and steady effort will be valuable in Cleveland. Shaffer delivers a good initial punch. That likely will complement RB Reuben Droughns, who hits creases quickly.... New JETS CB Andre Dyson (Seahawks) likely will start on the left side. Dyson has good ball skills, but he is small (5-10, 185) and there are concerns about his durability; he missed six games last season.... JAGUARS TE Kyle Brady won't be a receiving threat this season. Brady (6-6, 280) essentially is an extra offensive tackle, and he must be an effective blocker for the team to keep immobile QB Byron Leftwich healthy and build a power running game.... DT Sam Adams (Bills) is exactly what the BENGALS' defense needed. Adams (6-4, ...
