Apr. 12--On a rugged, triangular cliff that leans into the English Channel in Normandy, there is a Texas historical marker. It is the only such marker outside the state, and it rests on U.S. property. That property, which is on French soil, is now being preserved by Texas A&M University. The complicated arrangement was brought about by World War II and the brave actions of a group of Army Rangers. The 100-meter cliff is Pointe du Hoc, a sheer outcropping that looks down on Utah Beach to the left...
