A Rapist who came close to killing his victim after a "brutal" attack in a deserted Bristol trading estate has been jailed for life.

David Simmons abducted the 25-year-old woman after she accepted a lift from him from Brunswick Square in the early hours, Bristol Crown Court heard yesterday.

After blindfolding, binding and gagging her, he raped her on Fishponds Trading Estate and then drove her to Armstrong Way on Yate Trading Estate, where he produced a knife and "psyched himself up" to kill her before she managed to escape, the court was told.
