HORIBA DEVELOPES BIOCHEMICAL DNA SENSOR CAPABLE OF DETECTING GENES IN 10 MIN.--Horiba Biotechnology Co., a biotechnology unit of analytical instruments maker Horiba Ltd. , has developed a DNA biosensor that can detect genes in 10 minutes, facilitating quick, accurate diagnoses of patients at their bedside. Horiba Biotechnology, together with Prof. Hiroaki Shinohara of Toyama University, has succeeded in shortening the time required for gene detection by using charge-coupled devices.
