Dakar, Senegal (PANA) - Delegates at the First Global WASH Forum convened here Friday expressed optimism that the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) for water and sanitation were achievable, but said "both targets need apical attention in Africa".

In the Dakar Statement issued at the end of the five-day Forum, managed by the Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council (WSSC) and hosted by the government of Senegal, the more than 400 delegates expressed "commitment to water, sanitation and hygiene as vital components of sustainable human development".
