Calling all budding businesswomen: Sharon Woma needs you. Sharon, 36, from Aspley, is setting up a not-for-profit organisation to help women follow in her footsteps. Those footsteps have taken her from dreaming at her desk a couple of years ago to being the boss of a successful company - Eden Business Services.
"It's always been a dream to work for myself," she said. "But that was on the backburner for many years because of finances.
"Then I heard about the New Entrepreneur Scholarships (NES) programme, which was all I needed to get started." NES helps people living in disadvantaged areas to get a foothold in the business world by providing training, mentoring and financial support.
It is funded by the Learning and Skills Council and offers part-time education to give people the skills they need to develop a workable business plan....
