Hull: Cards firm UK Greetings (UKG) is consulting with its workers over plans that could see the closure of its base in the city.

The company has told staff that it is planning to move its Hedon Road home-working operation to its head office in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire.

UKG says no final decision has been taken on how many people will lose their jobs or be transferred, or on whether it will keep any base in Hull.

If the proposal gets the go-ahead, the transfer will be completed by June.

The home-workers, who are self-employed, take batches of cards home to finish them, with work involving gluing cards …
