Sangsad Bhaban, Dec. 1 (UNB) - To facilitate more people to travel by trains, procurement of 130 coaches, 30 AC meter gauge coaches, 50 coaches for meter gauge and 50 for broad gauge lines is now under process, Parliament was told today.
With the procurement of 30 air-conditioned coaches, fully AC inter-city trains would be introduced on Dhaka-Chittagong and Dhaka-Sylhet routes, Communications Minister Barrister Nazmul Huda Huda told M Helaluzzaman Talukdar Lalu (BNP).
Besides, the minister said, a scheme is also underway to procure 47 locomotives -- 41 for meter-gauge and 6 for broad-gauge lines.
He assured that with the procurement of these locomotives, train passengers would be able to reach their desired destination on time.
