THE LAST debatable amendments to the Bulgarian Constitution were approved by the ad-hoc parliamentary committee Tuesday. The majority decided that both citizens of the European Union (EU) and of countries with which Bulgaria has ratified agreements will be able to buy land in Bulgaria.
The changes provide for a seven-year grace period after Bulgaria's accession into the EU. The ban on purchase of land by foreign residents of Bulgaria will be revoked from January 1, 2007.
