THE PROSPECTS for development of voluntary health insurance in Bulgaria remain murky. It is more than obvious that the current health insurance model is inefficient but there is no political will to change this since there are too many corporate interests involved in the system.
Increasing the size of the health insurance contribution is a tough political decision because the state pays the insurance of more than five million Bulgarians.
