Ukraine revote moves
SOME form of new election in Ukraine appeared increasingly likely as a solution to political deadlock and mass unrest after a presidential poll the opposition insists was rigged. Even Russia, backer of official election winner Viktor Yanukovich, seemed to come round to the idea of a fresh vote.
Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Gerhard Schroder said they would respect the outcome of any new poll, according to a German government statement.
MORE than 300 people died after flash floods and landslides devastated three coastal towns and left swathes of the northern Philippines under water.
