EXPORTERS based in the Indian sub-continent face higher freight rates in the trades to Europe from the start of next year, writes Janet Porter.
In line with most other conferences around the world, the India Pakistan Bangladesh Ceylon Conference has advised customers that members plan to charge more from January 1.
Westbound rates will be lifted by a recommended $150 per 20 ft and $300 per 40 ft box. Those will be valid for three months, with further rounds of rate rises planned for April, July, and October. The amounts have yet to be decided.
