Attica Group, the Athens-listed ferry group that controls Superfast Ferries and Blue Star Ferries, is no stranger to awards.
Only recently the group was voted 'Best Ferry Operator by the Scottish Passenger Agents' Association, which is the oldest travel trade association in the world, with 700 travel agents in Scotland voting for the award.
Its two vessels operating the North Sea service between Rosyth and Zeebrugge Superfast IX and Superfast X were also voted 'Best ferries overall' and 'Best in the categories of cabins, bars and lounges' in the North Sea by 'Holiday Which?' magazine, the publication of the British Consumers' Association, the largest consumer association in Europe with over 700,000 members.
Now Attica, the parent company, has scooped Passenger Line of the Year at the Lloyd's List Greek Shipping Awards a title hotly contested by several of the country's leading ferry lines in the absence of any nominations this year from the cruise sector.
Attica, which started life as a ferry company in the mid-1990s when it placed orders for the first major newbuilding ro-ro passenger ferries in Greek history, currently owns and operates a fleet of 15 passenger ferries and one passenger-only catamaran.
