ROYAL Wagenborg Shipping has placed a €40m ($52m) engine order with Wartsila Nederland.

The Delfzijl-based group awarded the order for 50 engines to Wartsila Ship Power, a division of Wartsila Nederland.

Following the order, Wartsila Ship Power's order intake in 2004 has risen to more than €100m.

Adrie van der Ben, vice-president and general sales manager of the ship power division of Wartsila Nederland said the engines, 22 of which are firm orders with an option to buy a further 28, will be deployed in a forthcoming series of dry cargo container ships.
