Legislators, political parties and the Buganda Kingdom have warmly welcomed the proposed East African political federation by 2010.

They called for political will and commitment of member states of Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania. Buganda, however, said the regional federation should not be a substitute to the Federo it wants.

"The East African federation is a good idea, but it should not substitute our federation," said Mr Apollo Makubuya, Mengo's minister in charge of the Royal Treasury. He said the time is too short and would rather be used to set up a regional …
