SEOUL, Dec 1 Asia Pulse - Regular commercial flights resumed Wednesday between South Korea and Taiwan after a 12-year hiatus.
Regular flights between the two countries were suspended in 1992 when South Korea established diplomatic ties with China. But, Seoul and Taipei agreed in September to reopen regular flights.
Korean Air (KSE:003490), the larger of South Korea's two flag carriers, and Asiana (KSE:020560) will provide seven weekly flights connecting Incheon, west of Seoul, with Taipei, the Ministry of Construction and Transportation said.
Taiwanese airlines will not operate any regular flight for the time being because its carriers have yet to sort out internal differences on flight allocation, the ministry said.
South Korea too had run into a similar dispute, but it was resolved.
