SEOUL, Dec 1 Asia Pulse - LG.Philips LCD Co. (KSE:034220), the world's second-largest maker of liquid crystal displays, said Wednesday it plans to build a 5.3-trillion-won (US$5.06 billion) facility for producing a larger type of flat screen.
The company started to construct the so-called seventh-generation flat screen plant in Paju, northwest of Seoul, in March this year, and the facility will start to produce TFT-LCDs, or thin film transistor-liquid crystal displays, typically used for computers and televisions, from the first quarter of 2006, the company said in a statement.
