MANILA, Dec 1 Asia Pulse - Fiscal reforms would still be need to sustain the 6.3 percent economic growth achieved by the country in the third quarter, Congressmen said here Tuesday.
Bulacan Rep. Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado said fiscal reforms and new tax measures could ensure the country's economic growth uptrend would be sustained over the long term.
Alvarado said the 6.3-percent economic growth in the third quarter should spur the passage of revenue-generating measures and support initiatives for sectors like agriculture, fishery, forestry and industry, the major contributors to gross domestic product.
He said the people should continue their faith in and support for the Arroyo administration which has shown good management of the country's macroeconomic fundamentals in the past three years despite pressing problems.
