NEW DELHI, Dec 1 Asia Pulse - The decks have been cleared for the introduction of Value-added Tax (VAT) from April 2005, and a white paper on the new tax regime will be circulated among states in 15 days.
"A draft white paper on Value-added Tax will be ready within 15 days and circulated in the country," Asim Dasgupta, the chairman of the Empowered Committee on VAT, said after a meeting with federal Finance Minister P Chidambaram here Tuesday.
After the white paper is circulated, states will go for a nationwide awareness campaign.
