SAN FRANCISCO, Dec 1 Asia Pulse - Delegates from Taiwan and Nicaragua started a second round of free trade agreement (FTA) talks Monday in San Francisco.
Officials of Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) said the negotiations are divided into five panels that will discuss animal and plant health inspection and quarantine, investment, telecommunications and the protection of intellectual property rights.
The MOEA hopes to conclude the talks and sign an FTA accord by the end of the first half of next year, they added.
Vice Minister of Economic Affairs Chen Ruey-long and his Nicaraguan counterpart Alejandro Arguello are jointly chairing the negotiations on behalf of their respective governments at the meeting, which will run through Dec. 3, the officials said.
