IT WOULD seem unusual for the country's exclusive distributor of big and brawny Hummer vehicles to also sell light and nimble electric-powered two wheelers.
Says Benedict Go, president of Hummer Philippines which also distributes SmartEbikes brand of electric-powered vehicles: "I love the thrill of driving high-performance off-roaders like the H1, but I also enjoy the ease and freedom of cruising along on a quiet 20-kph electric two wheeler. These transports are practical around town, and they meet the range expectations of today's riders using affordable lead-acid batteries. With an already included cargo box in some models, people can do almost any errand."
Go is probably right: electric two wheelers are cheap yet effective transportation, and the planet's air is begging for the pollution advantages they provide.
"With the rising price of fuel, transport fare and everything else, an electric-powered bike can be an excellent alternative when one is just going to travel a fairly short distance or go around town to run errands," he adds.
