THE P800 million budget is yet to be raised, the overall organization plan is not yet in place, and even the official website is still off-line. But if you'll ask 2005 Southeast Asian Games chief organizer Roberto "Obet" Pagdanganan, the country's SEAG preparations are even "ahead of schedule."
With only 12 months to go before the country's third SEA Games hosting, Pagdanganan yesterday kicked off the Games' preparation by unveiling the official logo and mascot, which still doesn't have a name.
But there's no need to worry, according to the former Tourism czar, who is now the chair and chief operating officer of the Philippine International Trade Corporation.
Pagdanganan explained there are no major facilities to be built, with most of the work focused on the refurbishing of government-owned venues.
"We are on track and even slightly ahead of schedule," said Pagdanganan of the SEA Games set for Nov. 27 to Dec. 5 in Metro Manila, Subic, Bacolod City and Cebu City.
