PSC'S motley crew of veterans surged to the solo lead of the Shakey's V-League eliminations yesterday, but only after being dragged to an extra set by a gritty Lyceum side, 25-18, 25-19, 19-25, 25-13, at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.
The PSC lady tossers sputtered for one crucial stretch in the third set, but regained their form in the fourth to wrap up their second victory in as many starts in just over two hours.
Army enlisted women Amelia Guanco and Theresa dela Rosa combined for 30 points and stood at the vanguard of the PSC attack.
"We entered this tournament to have fun and inspire the younger set of players," said PSC coach Tats Suzara. "But after today, this is a different story already. We will try to win as many games as we can."
In the second game, Letran outlasted Far Eastern U, 25-21, 18-25, 22-25, 20-25.
