Defense revamp is on.

THE REVAMP of the defense department took effect yesterday after President Macapagal-Arroyo named four new undersecretaries and one assistant secretary.
Presidential Communications Adviser Silvestre Afable III announced the appointment of Francisco del Rosario as new defense undersecretary for finance replacing Feliciano Gacis, Jose Santos as undersecretary for defense acquisition replacing Cesar Bello, Rafael Antonio Santos as undersecretary for operations in place of Edgardo Batenga and Rodel Cruz as undersecretary for legal and priority concerns.
Also appointed was Othelo Carag as new assistant secretary replacing Leticia Gloria who is set to retire early next year.

"This revamp reinforces the civilian character of the defense department and will speed up much needed systemic and structural improvements to cut out corruption and improve frontline services to our soldiers,'' the President said.
