PRACTICALLY, it's in the bag.
Tourism Secretary Joseph Durano is expected to be formally confirmed by the 25-member Commission on Appointments (CA) when it convenes today for a plenary session.
At yesterday's confirmation hearing, the CA's committee on tourism and economic development practically gave its nod to Durano's designation.
Durano is expected to subsequently relinquish his seat in the House of Representatives when he becomes a full-fledged member of the Cabinet of President Macapagal-Arroyo.
Even Sen. Richard Gordon, after lecturing Durano on the dynamics of the tourism business, moved to have the Cebu solon confirmed.
