Royal Watercolour Society.(Report from Europe)(Brief Article)
In the two hundred years since it was founded, the Royal Watercolour Society (RWS) in London has had twenty-eight presidents. The first was William Sawrey Gilpin, and the incumbent is Trevor Frankland. The present queen is patron of the society, and the royal charter was granted in 1881 by Queen Victoria, a keen amateur artist herself, during the presidency of Sir John Gilbert. As part of the bicentenary celebrations, the society has organized an exhibition featuring works by all its presidents.
