The intensity of the 3:32 a.m. quake reached an upper 5 on the Japanese seismic scale of 7 in the towns of Kushiro, Teshikaga and Bekkai

Lower 5 intensities were recorded in the city of Kushiro, the towns of Shizunai and Akkeshi and elsewhere. Tremors even reached the Tohoku and Kanto regions, including an intensity of 1 in Tokyo's Chiyoda Ward and in Yokohama
