LAST season's Malaysia Cup winners, Selangor MPPJ, did not feature in the Super League. This year's Malaysia Cup finalist Kedah will not feature in the Super League next year as well.
A good omen? Or is it sheer coincidence? Kedah coach Mohamed Azraai Khor Abdullah is not, by his own admission, a superstitious man. But he does believe in one thing, Kedah have the potential and credentials to emulate the feat achieved by MPPJ last year.
On Saturday, his team will have the chance to prove him right and in the process deny neighbours Perlis, in what has been a fairytale run for them, their moment of glory.
Perlis almost squandered a two-goal lead from the first leg to allow Pahang to draw level but a last minute goal gave the northerners their first Malaysia Cup appearance.
"I'm not a superstitious man. It may be a good omen that MPPJ also won the Malaysia Cup title despite playing in the Premier League the following season, but I only believe in hard work and discipline," said Azraai in Alor Star yesterday.
