The field of Ward 2 Las Vegas City Council candidates might be more difficult to navigate than a Summerlin roundabout.
But the slate of 12 would-be representatives has provided voters with contrasting candidates to choose from in the June 22 winner-takes-all special election.
Three candidates -- retired federal law enforcement official John Hambrick, gaming consultant Nevada Stupak, and attorney Steve Wolfson -- say they're outsiders without conflicting ties to government or developers.
By contrast, city planning director Bob Genzer calls himself the inside candidate because of his three decades at City Hall.
Commercial real estate executive Richard Truesdell and real estate agent Joanne Levy think their experience in the development realm would be an asset to the City Council.
And Gabriel Lither, citing his leadership in the recent fight to limit the height of Red Rock Station Casino, said he's proved he will stand up to developers to preserve residents' quality of life.
