Women faculty at pharmacy schools continue to face disparities in salary, advancement and leadership positions despite a 30-year increase in the numbers of women entering the sciences, according to the study "The Status of Women in Pharmacy Education: Persisting Gaps and Issues."
Published in the online edition of the American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education, the study notes that women made up 30% of pharmacy faculty in 1985 and increased to 55% in 2002, yet only 41% of tenured faculty were women in 2002.
