CHICAGO -- Nearly one in six patients recognizes an imminent migraine attack even in the absence of pain. Dr. Richard B. Lipton reported at the annual meeting of the American Headache Society.
That finding from a multicenter study suggests the value of physician-patient discussions that identify symptoms other than pain that may occur early in a migraine episode and that could help ensure prompt treatment said Dr. Lipton, professor of neurology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York.
The study was the first prospective study emphasizing early migraine treatment that asked patients to document symptoms used to recognize an imminent attack. It involved 171 patients with migraine with or ...
